Sharp Gaming
Back to Case StudiesThe Challenge.
Sharp Gaming not only had the challenge of being the ‘best-kept secret’ in the North West tech scene but also lived in a sector that instantly created mixed opinions – gaming and gambling.
The Approach.
We aimed to dive into the business and help create the noise and excitement needed in the tech sector that people crave – working with leading-edge technology and a platform that safely delivers the ultimate customer experience.
Multiple workshops to ensure that we covered every angle of the business, meeting with the management team, landscape research, and a companywide questionnaire allowed us to involve as many people as possible in building out a layer of purpose and excitement to add to the Sharp Gaming brand.
The Result
It was clear that collaboration and creativity mixed with an entrepreneurial ‘start up’ mentality were at the heart of the business. This is why people come to work at Sharp and why they stay. We all agreed it’s not for everyone, but that’s fine too – being honest aids the recruitment and retention strategy.
Now all the website, recruitment assets and engagement communications align with the new purpose and are used as a day-to-day reminder of why Sharp Gaming exists and what is unique about every day.
As the Head of People, the pressure was on to recruit and recruit fast. We not only had the challenge of being the 'best-kept secret' in the North-West tech scene but also lived in a sector that created mixed opinions – gaming and gambling.

From the work commissioned, we were able to identify the key Sharp Gaming personality traits required that could refresh our talent acquisition approach and process, focusing on adding a layer of culture fit. We are now currently embedding this work into our BAU - Star of the Month, Meet the team, Life at Sharp, onboarding process, L&D programme and our 15five staff engagement platform.

The work with MuddyWellies helped us to define our purpose as a tech business and build out our proposition in a way that would more efficiently attract like-minded talent to join our team – with clarity for the talent acquisition team and our recruitment agencies. Having tried previously to complete this work in-house, we needed experts to help. MuddyWellies.
