Holywell Care Group - Lite Leadership Project

Back to Case Studies

The challenge

Following our initial work with Holywell Care Group – where we defined their purpose and values – the business had continued to grow, bringing in new services, homes, and people. A new-look leadership team had emerged, full of promise, energy, and Holywell kindness, but faced the challenge of aligning with the values – and ensuring they are felt throughout the business.

They wanted a temperature check; were the values still resonating? Were new recruits feeling aligned? Was the culture growing and evolving with them? And most importantly, were we still shouting about and understanding what we stand for – kindness?

The approach

We came back in with a lighter touch to explore how embedded the values had become and to support the leadership team in owning and sharing them. Working with the founders, Bob and Sabe, we gained a better understanding of the current landscape and what good looks like for them, and got straight to work. We needed to review all comms, previous survey feedback, engagement and current onboarding, appraisal and development processes – while finding out resource capabilities to ensure key stakeholders could take this people plan forward.

Through a series of honesty boxes, SMT meetings, and face-to-face chats across all sites, we heard about the challenges faced. We facilitated honest conversations about what the values looked like in action – and where the gaps were. We included recommendations for the development, training, and implementation of initiatives to support and shape the next few months.

This wasn’t about rewriting what was already there – it was about reinforcing it. Giving the team space to reconnect, regroup, and find new ways to keep kindness at the heart of everything they do.

The result

A renewed sense of confidence and clarity among the leadership team – with stronger alignment around how they embrace and display the Holywell values:

Compassionate. Protective. Supportive. Connected.

Principles that are vital in the care industry, but can always be seen in the people at Holywell Care Group – from the owners to the leaders, to every team – and felt by the clients, residents and their families.

New starters now experience those values from day one, through more intentional onboarding, meetings, reviews and consistent behaviours across the business, headed by a resilient, connected leadership team.

Holywell’s purpose – “Everything we do, we do with kindness” – remains the beating heart of the organisation. And this smaller scale project proved just how powerful it can be when that purpose is lived by their people, not laminated on a wall.
